So, while I lay here in a hospital bed I have been thinking about what kind of fish I can put in my new 60gal tank. I already have a cichlid tank so I would like some other ideas. So far I have been given the following suggestions:

angels
barbs
rainbowfish
gourmi

So if you have any good suggestions please let me know, my tap water Ph is 8.4 - 8.6.

I would say to go for the angelfish. But just my opinion.

i like the idea of angelfish, only problem is my LFS doesnt stock them and I would have to special order. I have tried to stock albino red tails before but they dont seem to like my water, I cant seem to keep them any longer then two weeks.

they really are awesome fish though

Mexican Sail Fin Molly can handle pH into the 7.8-8.5 range no problem.
I know this because several people I know keep them in reef tanks and that's the average pH of a coral reef tank.

Rainbowfish are naturally found in higher pH water, which answers your specific question. The rest should thrive quite happily, assuming they are not wild-caught.

Nor have I, but let's get back on topic! :p

This is an international site. Whilst it might be acceptable in Australia, it is considered a swear word in the UK, especially used in the context in which you used it. To describe something as such is often acceptable in the US as well, but you used it purely as an expletive. The word, when spelt correctly, is automatically edited by the site. I have had to do so manually.
