Good Filter?

I am getting a 46 gallon bowfront hopefully tomorrow. It comes with a Magnum 350 canister filter and was wondering if that is a good filter? I have always used the hob filters and never had a canister filter before but heard they are supposed to be alot better. Been a few years (well about 10) since I have had a tank up and lots of things have changed since then , just trying to figure everything out before I start setting up the tank. Thanks for any help you can give me. It will be a freshwater community tank...not sure what I am going to put it in yet though.
