Good afternoon all, my girlfriend and I have had a small tank for about 6 months now, it was donated by our next door neighbours as they were going to throw it out!

We have two plecos, five small tetra that have an orange and black stripe, three slightly bigger tetra with red fins, two dwarf gourami, and a naughty little crab!

sorry about the poor picture, it's a bit dark here.

We also have had a number of nymphs in the tank that end up hatching into these -

Quite good fun watching them flying round the house! They are also brilliant at catching small flies too :D

Well thanks for looking, I will now go an ask a few questions in the other forum areas, as we are thinking of getting a bigger tank, hooked now

Thanks

J and Michi

Lovely tank and welcome to the forum.:good:

Looks lovely, those tetra with the orange stripe are very pretty! Not sure what they are, though =)

Watch out for the crab - they like to kill small fish, especially at night. It's your tank but in the interests of your fish I would suggest finding him a new home or setting up a new tank just for him.

Also - what species are your plecs? Most commonly sold plecs actually reach about 2 foot long when full grown and need 6 foot long tanks. They might be smaller ones, though. Do you know what they are?

Final thing - tetras should be in groups of 6 so the serpae tetra (the big ones) need some friends!

How large is your tank? If you got a bigger tank and moved all your stock across, you could use this one for the crab and add some friends to your current fish.

Thanks for the replies, I have found out that the smaller fish that i thought were tetra, are actually Rasboras!

We are currently looking at getting a 4 foot tank to put the fish into and seperating the crab. The plecos were bought as a small species I just can't remember what they are!

Thanks again,

J
