Ok, part of my B-day present is getting a digital camera. I was wondering what is a good one for taking pics of fish. Because our current one takes horrid photographs of fish. so any reccomendations?
Personally, I'd love to own a digital SLR, a Nikon D70 or something. But they are very expensive. I have a Canon Powershot A70, which does the job very well.
Try to get one that can control the aperture, shutter speed, white balance and stuff.
A digital camera as only "part" of your birthday present!!!! when I was fourteen I think I got a bike wheel and then I got the saddle for christmas and so on and so on.!! This post has left me feeling that I had a deprived childhood!!!
Well if you are going to be given a camera and don't want for them to pay for an SLR have a look at this one! Fuji s7000 (fully manual)
I just bought a new digital camera a couple of weeks ago. I got a Canon Powershot SD600 for $300 on ebay. It is by far the best camera I've owned. It takes really good pics of fish (I haven't had a blurry pic yet, which was a problem with my old cam) It is also VERY small, it could easily fit in a shirt pocket.
I know it's $50 more than your budget, but if you can do it I highly recommend it. I actually chose this camera because it had the best rating on cnet.com. Thats a really good website for reading reviews of electronic products, from experts and users. You should check it out.
I love the Panasonic that I have. With a Leica lens and an image stabilizer, I hardly ever have a blurry or out-of-focus photo. I've taken some great macro and night shots with it too. It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8K. I bought it for $299 last year; you can now pick up one for about $260-$280. Newegg.com has the best price I've seen for it here. They're a really great online store too. You don't pay tax and it's only $5-8 for shipping.
Before the Panasonic, I had an older Canon A400. I love Canons, but hated using AA batteries -- which is what my model required. I bought the rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, but they still needed to be charged fairly often. I like the lithium ion batteries that my Panasonic model and my husband's Nikon uses much better; they last really well.
