Can anyone recommend me some good begginer plants for a 29 gallon. I dont want anything red though. And I dont want my tank to be fully plants just enough so it wont look bare.

Try the tropica website and do an advanced search for low light plants, they are generally easy plants.

If your looking for something that's difficult to kill, then maybe Java fern + Java moss are a good option? Although slow growers, once established they can flourish in most conditions. Also, they attatch their root systems to whatever the are placed on, and soon take hold.. Looks beautiful on bog wood or slates.

Another good one is Hygrophila polysperma, here's the blurb I found on it...

Hygrophila polysperma is one of the hardiest aquarium plants available. It is particularly good for beginners because it grows in almost all conditions. It normally grows so fast that it is important to prevent it crowding out other plants. The shoots must be pinched out regularly. Leaves lying on the surface form small new plants. H. polysperma varies considerably in leaf shape and colour, depending to some extent on the light supplied.

Another good looking plant that I've found quite easy to cultivate is Vallisneria nana, there are quite a few different forms of it that can look stunning when usually placed at the back of thetank as the leaves can grow up to 2 metres! [depending on the species]

The website [Tropica] that Themuleous directed you to is a great source of aquatic plant information, have a browse through the latin names and read up on what takes your fancy.

By the way, in my personal experience, trying to grow thick stemmed plants has never really taken off, stick to the simpler single leaved forms and you'll be fine.

And another one I've just thought of, Elodea, blatantly by far the easiest plant to thrive in any beginners tank. I believe it's called Egeria densa, which you can look up on Tropica

Hope that helps.
