today i am going to buy a good algae eater but i want to know which kind to get. Please answere back.

What other fish are going to be in the tank, and how big is the tank?
If the tank will have small peaceful fish you can get otocinclus catfish, whiptails or twig catfish. The former will be fine in a smallish tank the the two latter catfish will need a 3ft tank or bigger.
Flying foxes can be used in tanks with barbs and bigger tetras as can rainbow & redtail black sharks. Siamese flying foxes are fine companions for small peaceful fish. They are different to the normal flying fox.
The common chinese algae eater can be kept with reasonable sized cichlids and big barbs, so can black sharks but both of these fish get big and agro when older.

The best thing I have in my tank for eating algae is my 3 amano shrimp. They have made a wonderful job of cleaning up, whilst the otos don't seem to do anything much.

I have 5 amano shrimp.
My bogwood has gone from filthy, covered in furry algae, to sparklingly clean in less than a week.
All traces of algae have vanished from the pebbles... I highly recommend them!
The little critters are also a lot of fun to watch, as well as being my clean-up squad.
Very active and little comedians - they nick food from under the cories' noses and swim alongside the fish.
I vote amano shrimp!

Great minds think alike Lizzie! :drink:

to help you all, i have a ten gallon tank, currently with 4 zebra danios, and eventually i will have 4 australian rainbows

4 australians in a 10gallon tank?! That's a bit small for them, I'd reccomend as an algea eater a BN pleco or Amano shirmp. But I'd reccommend getting atleast a 30"long tank (20gallon long or 29gallon) for the rainbows.

i know its a little small, today were asking the petland people what to do instead.

Algae+amano shrimp=green residue!

Go for amanos-they eat tons of algae and dont load up your bacterial system.

The futures bright-the futures shrimp!

We have 8 amano shrimp and the tank is still filled with algae :p heh
They do clean up some though. You can defintiely tell where they've been b/c the spots will be free of algae heh.
If you have only a slight algae problem they'll probably be good for you.

Just last week 3 shrimps took all the algae of my fluval 2 pump casing-in one night!
