I'm giving up! I'm gonna bleech my plants to get rid of hair algae. I won't go into the methods i've tried and tried to get rid of it other ways. The bottom line is I'm gonna bleech them has anyone done this themselves? I need to know what strength bleech / water to use. Can anyone help?

1 part bleach to 19 parts water is a good starting point. Dip the plant for a minute or so then run it under fresh water, then into a bucket that is treated heavily with chlorine remover for a little while. After that it should be safe for your tank, and you should be able to brush the dead algea off the next day.

Make sure that the roots of the plants do not go in the bleach. And some plants are very sensitive to it and may die.... as I did not know with the Vallisneria I had was sensitive, slowly turned white and fell apart :( Well I got some more and they are doing well.

And my amazon sword was kinda sensitive too...... just try a piece first and see before the whole pant goes in

If done right it does not hurt fish. Alot of people treat fish with H2O2 the same as you would treat a cut on yourself.
