Well after months of planning for a new tank, I have decided to go on and upgrade to a bigger tank. From my present 13 gallon to a bigger 30-35 gallon tank. I have already started to purchase some of the needed parts

Here is a pic of the table and the canister filter i will be using

The table costed me around 50 USD.
The filter was free because it was a gift from my hon :) (i was initially gonna save some money with the filter and settle for a waaay cheaper resun canister filter, but she gave me an eheim so im happy)

Here are pics of the lighting that i will be using, its a ocean free t8 fluorescent tube housing which i will retrofit and jam in 2 P36 Watts PL lightings. I will be using 2 of these for a total of 4X36watts of lighting

Each of the light cases costed me around 40 dollars.

I will be having an aquarium custom made which will be amanoish style and i will make it open top. The lights will be held via plastic floaters that came with the tank :) Im not yet sure about the dimensions of the tank :D i will be setting this up around late feb or early march, depends if all the parts for the tank are complete or not :)

Tell me what you guys think

Nice project , lights look cool. Dont forget to run a journal as you go.

Purchased a driftwood for my tank, spent a lot of time looking for it, and found a good one, im probably gonna use this :D

what cha guys think

So what types of plants are you considering Ken? Im excited for you, maybe even more then you are. Seriously, this is wat keeps me coming back to this site is the journals. Have you drawn up any planting lay-out schemes yet? I think you said amano'ish' right? I wish i could find the types of wood Amano uses in his tanks, you know the long and poointed ones. He's got a nack at positioning them so they look as if they are reaching out towards the viewer. Its hard finding that wood here in the states, i'd imagine it's alot easier to get some over there in the phillipines am i correct?
Personally i had a peice of wood just like that in my 30gallon. I had troubles trying to keep algea off the top part of it. Depending on where your positioning the lights and the dimensions of the tank though maybe it will be fine. Im sure you thought of that already, i just blab. :D

yup driftwood is pretty easy to find here, and cheap too. Yup im aiming for a amanoish nature style layout. Umm this tank is still in the making, im still having parts shipped ang fabricated... its probably gonna take a couple more months to complete, im in no rush anyway.

Plant selection so far.
1) Elatine Triandra
2) Glosso
3) Java moss
4) Rotala sp. (maybe wallichii, nanjensen and macranda)
5) A few anubias sp.
6) Stargrass (tentative)
7) Hemianthus (tentative)

hehehe actually im aiming for the top part to be above the water, but i could not find something like that, so most probably im gonna let the algae grow on the top part of the wood :D hehe

Hey Ken, I like your choice of plants. I'm using E. Triandra in my foreground and I love it. Such a nice foreground plant, and a fnatastic alternative to riccia, glosso and HC. (I predict a boom in E. Triandra foregrounds as the next platned tank fad)

Looking forward for progress...

yup actually im starting to think about just using e. triandra as my main carpet plant, i really like the way it just creeps and covers the ground low... and its easier to trim down ! :D

small tank upadte... the plants im gonna use for my next tank are doing ok , the limnophilia is growing but ohhh so slooow.... man i really want to start my new tank ASAP... with the way things are going it looks like im still gonna have to wait 2 more months before i can start... more time to plan :)

Looking great! And thet cryptocoryne... Never seen any grow as big as that! Also, what's that foreground plant on the left?

thats elatine triandra :) i like to call it low requirement glosso :p

the tank is really small thats why the crypts look big :p hehe
