How much would you pay for a mint condition 500g (1/2kg) JBL proflora co2 bottle but about 3/4 and with stand.

Its good condition but obviously used!

 anyone any ideas....only got today to decide to take it or not?

Those bottles run at ~£50 new. I'd go to £30 (a refill around here runs to ~£10). For me condition is irrelevant-around here I'd be paying for the capacity itself not the bottle-when I get refills at my LFS (I have two bottles) they just swap it out for a full one there and then and I might end up with an old one or a new one as a replacement. Depends. If they refill your bottles there and then, you might be more worried about the condition of it.

all i need is a regulator right? then i am sorted with a pressurised CO2 system?

well obviously diffuser sorry as well!

and when u say capacity...is 500g big enough? how long would it last roughly on a 20g tank?

Hi

You'd need the regulator, a diffusor of some sort, plus CO2 proof hose. Additionally you might like to consider a solenoid to connect to a standard timer to shut the CO2 off at night. Depending on how much CO2 you're running into the tank, a 500g bottle would last 2-4 months. It really depends how much you crank in there-I'm a bubble per second plus man myself, so I can get through it pretty quick. The main thing is to ensure somewhere nearby can refill the gas for you. If you check aquaessentials, Richard is doing a complete basic JBL set for £119 I think. This will have all you need for a basic set-up. Given that a decent regulator will set you back about £80, you might find it better value to go for the basic JBL kit over trying to put one together from the component parts. I keep 2 bottles per CO2 set-up so as I always have a spare. After you've refilled a few times, refillable systems pay back over disposable units as well. You won't look back once you've gone pressurised. Hope this helps.

Hi mate,

I have got the bottle for £20 and thats including delivery!

Also my mate works somewhere where they have loads of spare regulators so i may get fixed up there for free. He needs to know what pressure and also what connector/thread is on the bottle tho! Since i haven`t got it yet i can`t tell him .Can anyone let me know?

Also, a good point u made about refills! To be fair, i haven`t a clue where does them, i`m in Manchester UK, anyone any ideas?
