I agree and so do most serious goldfish keepers. 20 gallons per fish is considered bare minimum with many advocating doubling that for the first fish.Yeah goldfish are messy, heavy bodied fish. I wouldn't put more than one in a 25 gallon tank.
One 5" goldfish produces far more waste than 5 1" fish.
