Can a goldfish survive in a tropical tank?

Before we had any fish in our tank a wee fish appeared as if from nowhere. We reckon it came as an egg in a plant. (I've tried to upload pic but with no luck).

Anyway we don't know what type it is but its getting big now (about 2 and half months old) and starting to get golden patches and is also the shape of a goldfish. Can a goldfish survive in a tropical tank?

Also theres a wee insect type thing appeared in the tank. It has 6 legs, a long slim body which seems to constantly 'wag' at the end. Any ideas that this is?

Thanks for your help,

Suzee

goldfish can survive in a 'tropical' tank though it is not recommended for it to be so for long periods, however i wouldn't have the temp. much above 20-22 degrees.
the insect could be some sort of damselfly or dragonfly larvae.
