hey i got like a 10gal tank, and i just want something that looks nices, like Goldfish, ok heres my question how many goldfish can i have? and other fish with gold fish?, sould i leave the tank plane? or rocks or sand ect.. any plants?, ohh yahh do i need a filter? pump? lighting? or heater? thx

Filter, definitely.
Pump... air pump? You might if your water temp is high and the fish are gasping at the surface (should not really be an issue, though).
Lighting: would be nice, though if you have enough light in the room (no direct sunlight), it isn't necessary.
Heater: only if the temperature fluctuates rapidly or gets extremely cold (which won't happen).

In a ten gallon, I'd put in one at most. However, some people on here would say 20 gallons minimum, then an extra 10 gallons per additional fish.

If you are going for just one specimen, though, I'd go with a variety that doesn't get over six inches.

However, if you want more fish or a wider selection of fish, you shoudl probably look into tropical fish instead of coldwater fish. *nods*

There are great pinned threads on the tank requirements for goldfish (in the coldwater fish section) and some good ideas for tropical fish that you can put in a 10 gallon. If you read those they will probably answer most, if not all, of your questions. Anyway, welcome to the forum!

I would not get a goldfish for this tank. It's not just a question of what the filter will cope with; they grow into large extremely active fish that need a lot of swimming space.

If you want to keep it a coldwater tank, you may be able to keep a small school (6-7) White Cloud Mountain Minnow; highly attractive little fish.

If the bright orange colour of the goldfish is what you like, I would invest in a heater and get a small group of platies. They are very personable and will soon grow tame enough to eat out of your hand.
