Goldfish Growth

is there a somwhat feasible way to tell a goldfish's age by its size? Specifically, Orandas.

Its pretty hard unless youve had the fish from a fry. Stunting and parental genes can determine the size as well.
Have you got a fish you havent an idea how old it is?

nah, they're just petshop fare, so they'll probably be smaller than proper, anyhow. I was just curious as i've had the female 5 or 6 months and she seems to have grown maybe half an inch at that time (excluding fins) which seems like not a whole lot.

I recalled reading that orandas don't get their wens until they are around three months and she had a small one so i assumed she was around that old, however I've also read that blue orandas don't always develop large wens (depends on the breeding, and like i said, she's a petshop fish), so it's hard to say. It certainly hasn't gotten any larger in the time that i've had her.

It can take some fish 3 years to develop a wen so its really down to breeding. Halfr an inch isnt that much but at least shes growing
