ok i saw th at someone posted about this already but.. i have a few questions :)

i found out that my goldfish has fin rot...

i got the medicine for him and it says to put in a teaspoon of it in a 10 gallon tank

but his tank cant be more then 3 or 4 gallons so we only put 1/4 tsp in because were guessing its a 2 gallon tank
do you just put it in the tank?

but the tank is so small and theres not a filter
do you have to take a certian amout of water out each day?

its hard because my moms been cleaning the tank but she wont be home for another week and im scared to do anything with it on my own (but i will if i need to)
and also this fish is about 10 years old..

and i dont have a test kit for anything
anyone have any information on that?
thanks :)

Tell your mum to get back to the board when she gets home, as goldfish shouldn't be in a two gallon tank, there massive waste producers, and also need room to move as they grow massive.
When you perform a water change you just add the correct amount of med back to the water removed.
Did you get a piplette with the med as that usually a piplette full to 2 gallons I think.

You could take a sample of your tank water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you for now.

thank you :)
my friend just told me she has a 10 gallon that i can borrow from her
but my mom would say shed hate to clean that big of a tank so, how much are filters?

because this is the first problem that he had in 10 years
but i do feel bad for him swimming around in a tiny tank :(

it didnt come with a pipette.. but we use measuring spoons to get the right amount that we're estimating that we need

All you do is a 20% water change with the gravel vac once a week, less maintance on larger tanks.
You will need a fluval 3 filter for a goldfish.
Good luck.
