’ve had my golden eye cichlid for about 3 weeks now , he is acting and eating fine . Water tempature is 77, 0 nitrate nitrite and ammonia . However he has a little white spot on his fin and tail. Is it ich? or just fins frayed from rubbing along plastic planes and now healing ? I have a couple pictures. His color is good and he is very active and eats great . Please let me know !!

Can't see any white spot on the fish. There looks like something whitish on the end of the left pectoral (side) fin. It looks like excess mucous but need a better picture if that is what you are referring to.

Excess mucous is caused by poor water quality, something in the water irritating the fish, or to cover an injured/ damaged area. The fact it is on the edge of the fin would suggest it is to help a damaged area on the fin.

And you need a picture on the back of the tank if you don't have one. :)

Got it , I do about 25% water changes weekly . He must have hurt it on a plastic plant or the gravel or something . Just happy it isn’t ich. And I will add that picture lol

Do a bigger water change too if you can. A 50-75% water change is better for removing nutrients and disease organisms. Just make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.
