Tank size: 180l
pH: 7.8
ammonia: 0

nitrate: 10

tank temp: 26

I bought 3 Gourami's yesterday 1x golden and 2x pearl. When I looked at the tank this morning they were all swimming around quite happily in the top half of the tank, lights off. I left for a couple of hours and then looked again and found the golden gourami sat on the bottom of the tank, in the upright position but not really moving much (gills were slow). I left it 30 mins and looked again and it was slumped over at a 45 degree angle against the glass still on the bottom. I put the lights on and went for my test kit. Within seconds it was swiming around throughout the tank. 2 mins later and back sat on the bottom. It seems like alot of inactivity followed by 20 seconds of swiming and then back sitting on the bottom for a long time.

Any ideas?????

Volume and Frequency of water changes: Yesterday morning 20% - I do 20% twice weekly as the tank is well stocked. No changes to my routine or products used.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants: see my signature for list.

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Just the 3 gourami - the 2 peals are happy.

Exposure to chemicals: just the usual additive when changing water.

What's the make of the test kit you are using.
How long did you climatise the new fish for.

How are the other new fish acting.

It sounds bacterial.
Tilting to oneside when resting.
Acting listless and lethagic.

Does the fish look pale or darker in colour.
Does the fish get off the substrate only to fall back down again.
Does the fish look bloated or skinny.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Is the fish still eating.
Any red sores or red streaking on the fish body.

API Master kit.

Other new fish are normal swiming around as expected.

It does tilt to oneside when resting and acts listless and lethagic.
It does the get off the substrate only to fall back down again.
It hasn't eaten since we got it and haven't seen it poo.

Not sounding good really!

Bless him.
R.I.P.

it sounded like a bad bacterial infection if you climatised them properly.
