Got home today and one of my Golden barbs isn't well. It is sitting on the bottom of the tank and not wanting to move much, not even for food. When it does swim it makes a fast vibrating/trembling movement intead of a smooth swimming movement. Water perameters are Am0/Ni0/Na15. All my other stock seem fine and happy. Could it be old age. Not sure how old it is. It also has no obvious physical signs to indicate what is wrong. It is purely in the behaviour that shows he's not good..

Any ideas

What is the pH? Temp?

How big is your gold barb?

How often do you do water changes?

Do you use carbon? Did you just recently change carbon?

Water is shanged 20% every week and is crystal clear. 25degrees water temp. Amonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10-20. Carbon was changed 2 weeks ago. PH is 7.8 This is normal around here and the LFS acclimatise all their fish to 7.8-8 as it is a hard water area.

Yeah probably internal bacterial or parasite. Water condition seems ok. If you have a hospital tank you can try putting him there and treat with internal external parasite treatment.

OK Cheers

I have just moved him to the hospital tank so I will carry on as you suggest. I just checked my levels and they were as I wrote above
