Gold Ram

Tomorrow my LFS is getting some gold rams, i wanted to know if i could add a female to the tank with my male GBR, because i heard they are just color variants. It is a twenty gallon tank, with the german blue ram currently by himself.
Also if i add a female gold ram, will they breed?

They might breed, it depends whether they like each other or not. They are just colour varieties of the same fish.

ok, also how do you tell if the gold ram is a male or female, is it the same as a GBR?

Yes it is, except harder because they don't have the black spot for the 'spangles' to show on, or such a pink belly, so you have to go more on fin shape.
