I have a male German Gold Ram (specs in my sig) and when the light is on, you can't see any blue on him, I know you are supposed to because all of the pictures I have seen of them have blue scales on the back of them. But when I turn off the light you can see SOME of his blue scales. How would I be able to entice him to show his color all of the time? Is it just the light. Like my bette, When the light is on, he is duller in color, but when it is off, he is fuller in color. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

BTW: Sorry for posting so many new topics, and replying to like every topic, it is just that I am bored during the summer.

not sure if this helps mate, but mine colour up during and after a water change!!

the GBR's litteraly burst with colour and the Golds show more colour too.

Dont be disheartned if they dont show much colour (golds) as they genealy dont,i have 6 golds and i like them how they are

Mine has been showing more color within the last day since I have been feeding him food with garlic extract mixed with it. I am seeing more blue on him. And he is showing more orangey-red on his front and his ventral fins fins.

Vary the diet, water changes every week should show signs of improvement! With Germans its all about water quaility. What is your ph, gh, temp, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate?

My nitrate is around 5-10, my ph is around neutral, plus I have some bog wood in the tank, and the others, I have no test for. Sorry. Next time I got to the store, I will get some freze dried brine shrimp. And then I will feed him that, blood worms, and flake food.

Mine love Tubifex

Do they like them more than blood worms. I haven't seen tubiflex worms around here. I might look into ordering some off the web, if they like them lots more.

Well i feed mine Bloodworms, Tubifex, Daphnia, Flake, Sinking Wafers and Brine Shrimp!

I will start to feed mine all of the freze dried and frozen food I can find of what you said. But in moderation, not a lot of everything. Just maybe once a week blood worms, once a week, brine shrimp, ect.

For me Flake 4 times a week Frozen food 3 times

Then, that is what I will be going after once I get all of the food. I only have frozen blood worms, which he LOVES!
