I recently got two ram cichlids from the pet store that the guy said were a pair. The gold one is the female. She is looking healthy and moving but she loves to just sit on things. She always lays on the rock and on the bottom. She is healthy though and still moves around. Does anyone know why she does this?

She may be clearing a nesting sight. Rams lay their eggs on flat surfaces like rocks. Sometime theyll dig out little "nests" in the substrate to lay eggs.

Yea she has been just sitting on a flat rock
Id guess shes waiting to lay some eggs, females will stake out territories and guard them if and when she lays eggs the female will stay there and the male will aggressively defend the territory.
Welcome to the life of RAMs. ;)

I don't disagree with the nesting information, but here I would wonder if it might not be something else, more of a problem. A video would be very beneficial. If there is spawning, they will be much more "active" and not "sitting on as rock or the substrate" which sounds more like an issue.
