Hi,

I am about to buy a 30 gal tank and I think I've found my centerpiece fish. I am considering a pair of gold gouramis. You can see by my signature what I already have and will be increasing those to 5 each so that they have a small school and can feel safer. I may add one or two groups of about the same size and possibly neon tetras. Will my gourami get along with these fish? One fish store said they were good community fish the other said semi-aggressive. I certainly wouldn't want my other fish to get nipped or eaten.

Debra

Hi Debra,

From personal experience, I found these to be quite aggressive (mainly towards each other, but occasionally others also) - I believe that they should be kept together in fairly large groups to even out the aggression, and perhaps with fish of a similar size.

Hello Debra. :) I have found this site very useful in finding if different species are compatible.

Can't find gold gouramies on there though. Do they have another name?

The Neon Tetra should be kept in groups of 8 and is compatible with Black Phantom Tetra, Cardinal Tetra, Corydoras Catfish, Discus, Dwarf Neon Rainbow, Endlers Livebearer, Gardneri Killifish, Glass Catfish, Glass Fish, Glowlight Tetra, Guppy, Harlequin Rasbora, Honey Gourami, Kuhli Loach, Pleco (Common), Pristella Tetra, Ram Cichlid, Red Phantom Tetra, Silver Hatchetfish, White Cloud.

they are demons!!! at least to eahc other. but they left my cories alone.
