I bought a gold gourami yesterday without thinking that my paradise fish might pick on him. I decided to take my chances and put him in the tank anyways. Thank God the PF didn't hurt my gourami. The gourami is quite a bit bugger than the PF and I think that's the only reason he doesn't. My problem now is that my PF picks on all the other fish in the tank, particularly the molly and the goldfish. (I know, I know!! Please don't say anything!!) This is gonna sound like a really dumb question, but is there a way to male my PF...nicer?? Or am I gonna have to buy him his own little tank?? I don't want to get rid of him so that's not an option.

They tend to be on the more aggro side with fish with longer fins. I don't know why but I don't think there is anything to do about it... sorry... :dunno:

Hi canyon_rayne :)

Paradise fish do tend to be a bit more aggressive than gouramis.

You might try rearranging the tank; perhaps they will establish separate territories. But you really do want to get another tank, don't you?

Hi canyon_rayne :)

Why not check on a 10 gallon tank? There is usually little or no difference in the price between that and a 5 gallon and it would be a much better fit for your fish.

Neither gouramis or paradise fish are small once they are grown and they do need a little room to swim. :D
