Hi, is it good to mix goldfish with platies, mollies, and tetras? I would like to get a Moor and Fan Tail. My aquarium is 10gal housing guppy fry only atm.

Complete no no in my opinion, especially having a 10 gal tank, goldfish need a minimum 20 gal for one fish, plus they are cold water fish and wouldn't last too long in a heated tank.

goldfish are coldwater. i don't know that they would like be put in a tropical tank. and a 10gal is way too small for 2 goldfish.

cheers :good:

Ahh, well i read they require water temp of 76-80 like tropical fish.. now i guess my other question is, are Tetra's nippy fish will they attack others in a 10gal? if so what is the BEST for a 10gal to not cause a problem.

(to your first post) Its possible yes, but far from recommended, i certainly would not do it.

You could have guppies and 'fancy' goldfish together, as fancies are usually kept at a slightly higher temp (somewhere between 70-72F) and actually don't do as well in colder water like common goldfish and koi. This is pretty much a sub-tropical tank, and there are a few fish that are commonly kept as tropical that fit into this range. However, for two fancies you'd need at the very least a 30 gallon tank and good filtration, and that's not accounting for the guppies, which would put you at a bigger tank. And sometimes goldies will eat the guppies, so you would have to decide whether you would want to risk that as well.

As it is, the tank you have is far too small.
