I'm going on vacation for a week at the beginning of November. I have 2 bettas, each in a 2.5g bowl. What is recommended for feeding while I'm gone? Can I get one of those vacation feeders? I'm going to see if my friend would be willing to take them to her house while I'm gone. She's going to be coming to my house to check on my fish and the cat while I'm gone, but not every day (like maybe twice while we're gone) so I didn't know if they would be ok with a feeder, or only being fed twice while I was gone.

i wouldn't bother with a vacation feeder. they'll be fine for a week. and if you're really concerned than have your friend feed them when she comes in. just make sure you give them clean water before you leave.

I second skipping the "fish-sitter." A week without eating won't hurt them in the least (it's just not something you want to do very often obviously), and they'd be better off without eating than have someone overfeed them or make some other mistake. If you really want your friend to feed them while you're gone and you feel confident that when you say "feed five pellets" (or whatever), she will indeed feed *5* pellets... then that's fine too. :)
