I've had a long satisfying run with my oranda goldfish tank (had 6 large orandas in a 55 gallon w/plastic plants/gravel) and now I'm looking to go back into a live plant community tropical fish type deal.

This was a contemplation so far;

6-8 Blue Dwarf Rainbows

12 Guppies

12 Harlequin Rasboras

12 Cories

6 Ghost Shrimp

2 Rubberlip Plecos

Not that its an issue but for reassurance this tank is now housing 4 large oranda goldfish and 1 medium lionhead goldfish, 4 aeneus cories, and 1 rubberlip pleco. Its also packed full with 7 different types of nutrient consuming live plants (which I recently added). The AC110 and Emperor 400 filters have been biologically established for heavy bioloads for some time now (of course), and I plan on dumping their biological filtering contents back into the ole 2217 Eheim after I do the switch, adding it back on and utilizing a powerhead for added circulation.

Any advice? This looks like good choices to go with rainbow fish as the feature fish? If not what would go with them better?

Thanks! :thumbs:

I don't see anything to comment on. Good idea with the switch to more filtration. Wait, do you plan on keeping the goldfish or rehoming them? Aside from that I don't know much about harlequins but everything else looks pretty good. Well thought out so not much to suggest. Ummmm...have fun? :)

Thanks guys!

Yea maybe I shouldn't have even asked opinions but I just wanted to make sure.....like being really careful when I start up a new community. I don't like having to seperate the children, if ya know what I mean.

The main thing I was concerned about was guppies with rainbows but I guess there's nothing to be concerned about is there.
