Hi guys. The time has come to split my oscars....
Their just starting to get agressive. Not much but a couple of little fights mainly flairing an evening.
I have just sold my mbuna and am moving 1 O into their setup with 8.4 ph. I love the coral and ocean rock ect. So dont want to change it. The other tank is a very tannin stained wood and root setup with 6.2 ph.
Any ideas on how to do this? Any ideas apreciated thanks.

Depending on the size of the oscar you could keep it in a heated container and over a few days you could gradually mix the new water with the old one. i would do a big water change in your mbuna tank to lower the ph assuming your tap water is lower than 8.4. how big is your oscar tank?

2'x18"x18" with 3.75" oscar. Sounds a good idea but wont the ph just rise in the tank really quick? Like an hour? Tapwater come out at 7.4ish.

What would be a safe rate to increase ph? .2 an hour? A day? Any rough guide?

i dont really know how much to be honest. i suppose its just trial and eroor. i dont think the ph while rise that quick. but thinking about it the water change is probably a pointless task i would scrap that bit of my own advice lol

Maybe ill just try the drip aclaimation over about 8 hours tomorrow... Hope hes ok...cheers for the thoughts though
