hello again, if you remember i once had a male and two female guppies in my ten gallon. The female gave birth to many babbies and i managed to raise 10 or so and I was doing well untill strangly and over a period of time my male, and both females died. The babies were doing fine till i introduced a Gouramis and my tank got infested with Ich, i treated it following the store clercks instructions and the medication killed all of my babies! i was very angry so i called the store and they told me that they would refund me the money for the medication and give me a free fish.

I went over later and decided to try Corydoras again. I was going to get that as my free fish when i ask the clerk how much they were because i wanted to get another one. he gave me two no charge. Very nice.

So after many fish and little luck i have return to guppies. No need to laugh, i bet everyone gets bit by the Guppy bug at one point or another. Well, i plan to go to the store tommorow and i will have my pick of the guppies because they got a new shipment in. I like the delta tails but am also awed by the snakeskin patterns. The wild look turns me off, but i like the sword tails.

If anyone can post picks or suggestions of their favorites i would greatly appreaciate it.

I probably wont be able to sleep tommorow.

Keep in mind i live in canada so if its a strain restricted to Europe i would appreaciate it if no one taunted me :)

i look forward to replies.

personaly i'd go for the most virile and active fish.... if they are more active in the tank they are more likely to be stayers. choose well and u'll have good stock... dont always go for the best looking just choose well :D

dont go for the biggest guppy you can find since it lifespan is usually almost over if it is large

hi i love my guppies they are full of character and everyone is different. i have a male green/yellow cobra, 2 male red tux and a pinky orange male. i also have 2 orange tailed females. i did have some yellow females one which was pregnant but died after birth. i find the females alot harder to keep, especially after being pregnant, as they tend to give birth to a few but then get stressed and die with the final fry inside them. try and make sure that you have more females then males as other wise the males will constanstly chase the females, although females seem harder to come by and more people are attracted to the males as they have better colourage and bigger tail fins. the females are just as nice. to many males also tend to chase other fish out of bordem. make sure the guppies you buy are not too big because you do not know how old they are and may not have much of a lifespan left. my guppies like to have a bit of conditioning salt which is good for all types of livebearers.

oh and i would not advise gourmis to anyone, from my past experience and my dads. as they get bigger they become bullies and will fin nip and eat anything that gets in its way, definitetly no good with guppies, they are just a small meal for them.

my tank consists of guppies, platies,a molly, neons(common and black),silver shark, flying fox, white clouds, long finned zebra danios, common plec,a swordtail, a male fighter fish(betta),scissor tail, and loach, all these fish get on well together they have a good varied diet, flake, bloodworm, tubifex, daphina, brine shrimp.

guppies like a variety in food.

I have no trouble with my guppies as long as you get pure guppies wether male or female you are not going to have a problem all mine are healthy and strong individuals .
The mixture you have in your tank means your live bearers will hybridise and as so any fry you sell you would have to advise the seller that they are not pure .
Mollies and guppies will cross as will swords and platties

I have
males - red blonde , tiger (adrian HC strain) , Blue neon half black , red neon , yellow cobra
Female , Queen something(cant rmemeber) , blonde scissortail , red blond , plainum blue , platinum red , snakeskin

these are all very beautiful guppies - i havent had any females die during or after giving birth (so far) i let them all give birth in the tank so there's no stress of couping them up .

As long as you have the male to female ratios correct then males dont bother any of my other fish or each other - well apart from displaying to each other which is lovely to watch

Good luck with the guppies again

let us know what you get
