Hi Everyone :)
I've not been here very long but id thought id put my thought across anyway!
I think everyone (Including me) should go and say hello to new people to the forum more often. I know there is never a person who has no replies to introducing themselves, But i've noticed that most of the replies are from the same people like Rdd and a few others.
I think everyone should take the time to say hello to at least one new user everytime they log into the site to make the new people feel more welcome!
I'm going to start from now and keep it up for everytime i log in... I think you should too :)

Ps. I know this has been mentioned in the board suggestions several time, but not alot of people go there either so i thought it would get more noticed here.
Thanks Dan

I'm usually so busy in the other forums I never go to the Newbie forum. But I do try to welcome people as I answer questions if I notice they only have a few posts.

Good idea though! I'll try to get up there more often!

I do try to go there and welcome everyone. I'm actually practicing for my next career - a greeter at Walmart (those from the UK probably won't understand the joke there). It does look odd sometimes when you see a thread in there where someone has introduced themselves and it has been viewed 20 times but only has 3 replys. It doesn't take a lot of time or effort to say high and begin to show people how friendly this forum is.

They have greeters at ASDA (owned by Walmart) over here in the UK so most people should know what you mean!

I've just said hello to a newbie and I'm going to do it more often :)

Thanks for your replies everyone :D
Rdd if you are a greeter i think you should greet people by the fish section, where you can welcome them and then tell them that the 'specialist' in that area was wrong when he said you can keep a shoal of oscars in that nice 1gallon bowl :D
Gees I don't even live in America and you guys already have me hating Walmart!

Must be honest i never greet new members, as my post count is big enough, lol

Don't get me started on Walmart. The only way I would ever work there (or even set foot back in one) is if was to clean up their fish departments. I loathe that place and their fish keeping practices (or lack thereof). But that's totally off topic. I do indeed try to greet as many people as possible.

I sometimes feel a little guilty that my post count is so high because of the number of posts I have in there. They should adjust the forum software so that posts in the Newbie section don't count toward your post count. I don't want to be seen as a spammer, just trying to raise my PC.

I didnt think that posts in the newbie section counted towards total posts.I just think its nice to welcome one or two people each day and always try to do so if I can
No doubt I will get my reward in heaven
-----Oh no you wont

I didn't think it counted towards your post count either?

I'll have to write a new post just to add this as i can't edit my answer for some reason. I make the changes and it goes through but it doesn't come through complete  Also i can't quote people, is anyone else having problems with this?
Anyway
Rdd i dont think people will see you as a spammer or trying to raise your post count, i think you are a good role model for people to try and improve their posts in that area :)
Okay now im just confused :S my computer is playing tricks on me

Just said hi to a new member and it dosn't put your post count up.

I will check my post count before and after the next time I post there to see. I do know that I have seen newbies post there and their post count is 1. I even went to one of their profiles to see if they had posted their problem else where and the one in the newbie section was the only one so it was definitely counting their first one.

I hate to double post but editing my last post wouldn't bring this back to the top so I'm adding a new post. Just an update on posting in Newbies and post count. Posts you make in the Newbie section DO NOT count toward your post count (I posted 4 times there this morning and my post count did not change) so please go say hi to as many new members as you can. You're not inflating your post count in doing so and you will make our new members feel welcome to the best fish forum on the net.
