nah....and zebras have so much trouble with disease as it is without weakening them with dyes poor little buggers :p
I'm about to swap my last 2 soon for dwarf neon rainbows

Just trying to advertize the fact and make people aware that they are out there-sooner or later they are bound to turn up over here on the "quiet" as such and if people arent aware of the situation they might jump at buying them.

yeah thats fair.....i don't think i'll be owning even normal danios anymore after the trouble i've had with them picking up everything....wilder said danios are hot fish for getting fish TB too.
But I wouldn't touch those glowing ones even if i was paid to...lol

any shop found selling those glofish would get fined a hefty sum, something they're only likely to do once, and most suppliers are aware of that law that these things are illegal over here. unlikely we'll see them. thank goodness. they're look horrible.

are they not dyed?

No, they're not! Google 'glofish' if you want to know more, but basically they are zebra danios who have been genetically modified with the use of a jellyfish gene that makes them glow. Their offspring will also have the gene and glow.

Fairly sure they are illegal in the UK at the moment due to laws about GM but I have seen them for sale here regardless. Bit of a novelty and rather tacky if you ask me, sure kids will like them though.

I read somewhere they were genetically changed ,cant remember where, whatever next i wonder!

I think its terrible really. rapid breeding has caused so many weaknesses already in guppies, mollys etc, this just makes it worse.

When I look at pictures like that I cant help feeling sorry for them.
