fantastic hey? i cant believe how fast it's spreading. it's definatly spreading faster in the rekord 60 (shallower tank - closer to the light)

now does anyone fancy redoing my riccia for me. it's got a little out of hand and i really cant be bothered to sort it out...

and my solitary amano shrimp, poor lonely sod. at least he has plenty to eat..

hope you enjoyed that,

:hyper: wow amazing and looks fantastic.
(Perhaps when it starts taking over over, you can send some my way :hey: )

Glosso looks like it's spreading nicely! Good work

Mine's not doing so good, it's getting a little leggy. I'll trim it.

Oh and as for Riccia? Lose it! lol I put up with mine for about one re-scaping and decided to get rid of it...

bloozoo2: great isn't it. seeing as i got it free from RYO your more than welcome to some cuttings when it starts to take over.

Pseud: Never - i seem to be labeled "the riccia man" now so i'm stuck with it. although i moan i do like the feeling looking into the tank a week after a rebuild and seeing it all nice and neat. the hair algae is whats bugging me it's all tangeled up in it. look at the 5th pic, riccia on the right. you can see a haze above the riccia with a suspended clump above it. thats the algae, hard to see in pics but very obvious in the flesh.

looks fantastic.

the riccia growth in the 2nd one is more like what I have in my 20 gallon over 2 months :grr:

Looking good, mate.....I need to get my new lights in because you're definitely in the lead in the glosso growing race....mine is growing up, not spreading!
I like the riccia like that actually, looks more natural IMO

I'm sad to say, but I've completely given up on Riccia :(
It just never took off in my tank - even my new snazy tank with high light etc. and all that.
And the bits that kept floating around drove me nuts  (and it refused to stay in the circle of airline!)

Looks good jimbooo, mine has taken off as well and its staying quite compact which im pleased about.

I havent given up on Riccia, although ive had a piece floating for ages (2 months) after my last efforts, i finally made up some stones last night for my smaller tank.

TBH it is about 2 months since i redid it and some of that has broken away from the slate hence the height, it's hollow underneath :*)

yeehaa :hooray: , as to the riccia you should see it in real life the front section is about 7 inches tall from base to tip. way too long and getting messy.

you should try getting some dwarf riccia it is much more manageable than fluitians and matts together much more readily.

got any piccies mate i'm forgetting what your tanks look like. it would be great to compare it now to those pics all those months ago when you put the tree in. go on, take the bait you know you want to.

Hehehe told ya it spreads, if mine grows any more it will be making its own breakfast soon.
Looks good by the way, its amazing the difference in growth tank to tank ain't it ? My two couldn't be any different.

jimbooo i dont have a working digital camera right now, im going to buy a decent digital SLR very shortly.

This shot is not very good, its taken with a camera phone which i dont posess any longer (came with a job i was doing) my own phone doesnt have a camera incorporated (i know excuses excuses) anyway its not even a good shot, it was taken about 6-7 weeks ago and this setup doesnt exist anymore, after i had the problems with the bba i totally ripped this setup apart and ditched all of the plants, so basically im starting afresh with this tank (my main tank) i have glosso and some hairgrass planted in the foreground, and the mid and background doesnt really have any focal point or any particular aquascaping plan ATM, but im working on that and will post pics soon.

Anyway bye bye this setup, it looked quite good at the end of its life, its a pity i dont have any decent pictures of it for the record...........the other small tank i have going is only recently planted and not really worth viewing ATM, but i will post pics later

Edit: dont know why that picture didnt show up.......the link works anyway.

Does this help Zig ?

It is (was) a very beautiful setup ! Love the spindly wood

Thanks bloozoo for posting the pic.............the hairgrass got infested with bba, which i blamed on low and inconsistant levels of co2 at the time, even though the readings for co2 were good, anyway after further looking into the matter apperantly this is quite common with this type of grass (lilaeopsis) i allways found it very difficult to keep clean from detrious and running a gravel vac over it wasnt really possible without uprooting loads of it, so when i eventually took the grass up to get rid of it i couldnt believe the amount of waste that lay underneath, i mean serious amounts, and i now blame this on the bba rather than low co2 levels, it wasnt that i neglected to clean the area around the hairgrass it was just very difficult, anyway just a warning to others if you do grow this be vigilent and persistant with the maintenance or you could end up in bba land as well.

oops did i say riccia? I meant glosso :*) I dont have any riccia left since the bga.

nice tank zig
