Glo T5ho Linear Lighting System

Ok does anyone know if you can do this? I dont really need them as they just take up space. Also it would seem the sliding metal bits on mine are on upside down. It doesnt really make a big difference but I would like to know if I can fix them (I'm more likely to have a drop the light in the tank related accident this way).

without seeing one infront of me i dont know, is =nt there a screw on the ouside of the black legs, or a cap covering a screw?

god knows how the metal sliders have got that way!
