well i was gone for about three and half days.

Tank size: 1.77 gal
pH: unknown
ammonia: about 1-2 on the nitrite/nitrate chemical test
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:i don't know what this is
gH:i don't know what this is
tank temp: approx. 78-80

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):
Isabel, female, is actually her spunky self. However, i just noticed that her eyes were quite cloudy today and I didn't notice this on Saturday when I left. I just got back from a trip. Fish was fed while I was away.

Volume and Frequency of water changes: 4-5 days

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: gravel, fake plants, filter

Tank inhabitants: just her in her tank

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): last week, i did add marbles by top fin

Exposure to chemicals: only those to treat the tap water

is there anything to treat cloudy eyes or what is this? can taking too many pics of them with flash have caused this? i just noticed this after taking lots of pics with my digicamera. but my other two bettas were not affected like this.

well i got desperate and after cleaning her tank today, i also added iodine/blue stuff that is made for fish that i got at petsmart a while back.

it's basically 1 drop per 16fl oz i think.....so i just used 1 drop in the 1.77 gal tank.......

let's see what happens......

but i would still like to learn what this cloudy eye stuff is. is wasn't just a dot, but like 50% of the inside of her eyes (both of them) were cloudy and it wasn't something that looked external and the rest of her looks fine and basically she is her same spunky self and can see.

i just hope she is okay because i love her....she is my first girl.......

Cloudy eye is another non-specific disorder.....
Possibly;

diplostomum or eye flukes (parasitic)

Most commonly related to poor husbandry (thats not an implication) particularly;
Poor water conditions, nutritional deficiency, chlorine in the water.

Also associated with various bacterial and fungal illnesses.
So pretty much everything.

My betta had this a while back and it cleared up fairly quickly.
I'd just increase my water changes and add whatever general treatment (1/2 dose to begin with) you have to hand.

I went through a bacterial invasion of my sorority tank from infected live bloodworms about 3 weeks ago. The first indication there was a problem was one female with cloudy eyes, Rose. One eye was partially swollen but it was not popeye. Took her out and placed in hospital tank. While trying to establish what the problem was, discovered another girl with one cloudy eye and shedding skin on top of head, Cleo. Placed her in hospital tank, as well.

I have since treated both with General Cure, which did get rid of the shedding skin, which turned out to be a bacterial growth. Then, treated both with Maracyn and Maracyn 2 for 5 days. Rose's eyes are about half as cloudy as before. Cleo's eye looks fine. However, both of them have a slightly misshapen head/face now. Like their nose area is somewhat elongated. I'm keeping them in the hospital tank, no meds right now, just to keep an eye on them, but people more in the know have indicated that they are probably now fine to be reintroduced to the sorority tank.

I'm going to keep them in the hospital tank, though, even if for another month, just to observe them and be sure they've regained whatever health they're going to, and most important, that they are not contagious.

I should also mention I lost one girl to dropsy during that bacterial invasion.

The most important thing is to determine what happened with your tank, that you have a sick fish. That needs to be treated, as well as the fish.

well amazingly enough, isabel's eyes look great.

no more cloudiness and i am soooo relieved.

i can't wait to get her into the new biOrb i am setting up as i think having a really good filter system and lots of space.

i wonder what it was but i am sure it was due to the water not being healthy in her 1.77 gal while i was away. my roomie kinda overfed her and there was lots of food floating around. so i am sure that may have contributed to some issue.

thanks y'all for your replies and thoughts.

Good stuff.
Like i mentioned, my betta had this, probably was the water conditions if its cleared up so rapidly....
I'd ban the roomie from going anywhere near her from now on
