And i`ll look in paws for thought later on tonight

Thats a really nice idea. Best not mention it to my partner though, he might get a bit suspicious. :shifty:

Tahitian Moon Sand is a nice, fine black sand. I just researched it and at least one place says it won't affect pH (the others are silent).

If you have plants, EcoComplete mignt as well be sand, and I have run acros mention of Seachem Onyx, though I have yet to see it in a store.

Thanks for bringing this back on topic :good:

I will be planting, yes. To be honest I'm not very genned up on the planted tank specific substrates, so will read into the names you gave me. Thanks very much!

Ive got Eco-Complete (mixed with like 5% black gravel for some texture) in my pygmy cory tank, with Cobomba and Hygro and a couple of Swords under 36W in 20 gallons (high). The stem plants are growing like mad, the swords are thriving (and I have a lovely infestation of BBA - :< Had to put in some duckweed to cut the light down and sponge up the phosphates.) In any case, the Corys love rooting around in it.

hey tophat did you add eco-complete to a tank with water?
i wanto change my substrate but dont want to have to take everything down to do it, i know i can add sand with fish and water in there.. but as i hope to hav some good planting i was thinking of something more suited to planting so eco complete may be what i need...

also do fish really prefer the darker substrates? i was thinking of a lighter coloured sand....

oh dilema... decision.. :)
