Is it necessary to have a bubble counter and a glass diffuser, or does the diffuser also act as a bubble counter? I'm thinking of switching from a Hagen ladder to a glass diffuser.

Thanks

You can buy glass diffusers with spirals in them that act as bubble counters. Some dont have these so if you wanted (and i think it would be a good idea) to buy a sperarate bubble counter.
Is this for a DIY yeast system? The glass diffusers didnt work for me with DIY yeast systems. Found that there wasnt enough pressure to force through the ceramic disk and the alcohol would kill off the yeast quickly as a result.

i used to glass diffuser.. my tank is 55 gallon..

so i had to inject a lot of co2 to get 25 ppm..

it wasn't useful for me,

now i use a DIY reactor which i give's me a lot of micro bubles and a high co2
concentrations...

Thanks for the reply. The one I'm looking at does have the spirals. I saw one on Ebay and it stated that it could be used with diy systems. I'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with diy systems and glass diffusers?

I use a glass diffuser with diy, it works fine, there is a bit of water in the bottom of the diffuser so I can count the bubbles. They just need cleaning, mine grows that white slimy stuff on it, which is something you get with yeast. When I started it I had to give the bottle a squeeze (to increase the pressure) to get the bubbles to come out of the diffuser more evenly.
