I'm looking at a few diffusers on ebay, and there are some ranging from no coils to 8. With my tank being 90 gallons, do I need to worry about that? How many coils should I get? To be honest, I don't really know much about this kind of diffuser, so I don't know what the coils are really there for... I would assume to ensure more absorption.

Thanks

I'm glad you asked this question! I have also been checking out the diffusers on ebay this week! (I need one for a 72 gallon tank.)

Also noticed some have the check valve built in.

I hope someone can shed a little light regarding the coils.

The coils just ensure more CO2 is dissolved they work the same way as the ladder type diffusers.

I would say you would need to pump quite a bit of CO2 with a glass diffuser on a 90 gallon tank.

Thanks Zig. I'll get the biggest one since the price isn't that different.

I would do the same if it were me, i would buy the one with the most coils, they look really good i must buy one as well.

sorry to butt in but, are these you are talking about different to the ceramic diffusers?

They are the same except they have a coil within the glass chamber that the CO2 bubble travels up before it hits the diffuser plate. Like this one here, this one has 3 coils, some of them have up to 8 coils.
