This is one for anyone who keeps tropical tanks in Glasgow!

How do you find the water? I've lived here for 3 years, and have gotten used to the water. But, what's it like for the fish? I'm going to dechlorinate it obviously, but how is it in terms of clarity, pH, acidity hardness e.t.c......?

I filter my drinking water an it makes it taste like water! But straight out the tap, the water here's a little discoloured... it's not bad, but if you pour it in a white sink or mug you can tell it's a bit brown.

Not sure about glasgow, but edinbourgh water is very soft. Not brown though. Test it for PH and DH and see what you get. Brown water may indicate rust in the pipes or several other factors, rust being the most common.

Eugh! Just filled up my 10g... Not best pleased with the clarity! I'll leave it running overnight and see if it's cleared up much in the morning. Hopefully once i've cycled it with plants it might get a little better. -_-

Anyone else live in Glasgow have yellowish/brownish water? Or able to post pictures showing the clarity of it.
