my marigold swordtail is pregnant, you could see the little blacks eyes but then it started to get really dark. does this mean that the eggs are still growing?? she is hanging around the bottom of the breeding net does this mean that she will give birth soon???

i am new to this forum so please bear with me. i need all the help i can get, because her last batch of fry died because i was unprepared for it to happen only because i had just gotten her and the worker at petco said it would be a couple of weeks before she would give birth. but it turned out to be a couple of days instead, and i did not have all the stuff for the fry.

ps. heidi is pregnant

thank you for all your help

Hello and :hi: ! If you can see the black spot getting darker I'd say it's going to be very soon. If you're going to move her I'd be real careful as to not stress her. Sometimes that can cause more problems that it's worth. I don't move my pregnant fish, just catch the babies that I can find. I di dread that when the fish looks big and almost box like in the tummy area it's close to baby time. Sorry I'm not more helpful. I'm sure someone here as better advise for ya!

thank you for your help and advice, the spot is getting alot darker and she is bigger than before.
she is hanging around the bottom all day and when she eats she lets the food come down to her then she eats. is this normal for her??

please right back as soon as you can i really need to know. this time i have everything i need for thre fry. new tank already set up, food, net and everything else you can think of for the fry. my tank size is a 10 gallon right now just to start off until my other tank comes in.

you should get a bigger tank right now! yes, its normal.

what do zebra danio eggs look like :fish:

I remember reading somewhere that they go to a somewhat hidden place to have the babies, or some of them. That may be what she's doing. My one molly has been big for almost 2 weeks. I swear she's gonna pop! One day she'll be hanging out by herself so I think it's time and the next she's swimming around like nothing's going on. DOH!
