got a funny feeling your gunna tell me this is gill rot, 3 of my platy have this happening to them

but on a happier note, yet more fry on their way, she must be so uncomfortable she aint eaten for 4 days and you can her fry moving and making her go weird shapes right in front of your eyes, looks just like when humans have their baby kicking

they gotta be there soon feeling so sorry for her.

Ye will need ammonia and nitrate levels.
Are they swimming around on the surface and gulping air and keeping near moving water?
Are they all off their food?

If yes then you need to get treat with a formalin based treatments to flush the gill's, something like protozin.

If their are swimming around as usual then i dont think it's a problem as u can get some fish with clear gill covers giving that blushing look.

will get stats for you this afternoon been testing new tanks so ran out.
anyway their behaviour perfectly cheecky as usual and only the expectant one gone off food but still no fry

ok......ammonia 0-0.1, nitrate below 25 as usual and other stats good, LFS said could be parasites in gill, wot do you think?

if it was gill flukes or anything you would see then hanging out of the gills.... so no i dont think you got a problem, u sure that she never had the blushing look befor?

well i guess the gills could be inflamed which would press them against the gill cover, but fluke are out the question.

protozin would help to flush the fills though.

Looks a little like my swordtails. It developed something like that but was slightly different coloring. Never could figure out what it was but I still have th fish today with the same marks. She's fine but just looks different around the area.

taking a closer look,it looks like the gills are not there anymore. do i sound crazy helterskelter :hyper:
will try protozin though cheers

That sounds a little too crazy. If that was even possible the fish would be dead right now. Imagine a fish with no gills still living. "Am I dead yet?"

fish with no gills are quite common is some species, goldfish and angels are very common.
But they do suffer from gill problem more as then not protected any more.

If they look blood red then that the gills their self, but the pic is just a clear cover.
