I think some of my bettas have flukes. I've lost one and some aren't looking good. Lots of twitiching and eratic swimming, then laying on bottom. I've got interpet 12 anti crustacean parasite meds will that do or do i need something else? thanks

What are you water quality results?
Any other symptoms apart from the flicking?

Flukes don't just affect the gills - they could have body flukes too. I know Wilder won't agree with me, but if the fish do have flukes, I've had good results from using Sterazin :)

I would also like to know your water quality, I don't think fish would die from flukes, most fish in the wild are full of them all the time.
You could be going through a patch of high nitrate in your tap water (particularly if it has been raining alot recently) I got this once, the fish were flicking and despite me doing lots of water changes the nitrate levels were still high.

Fish I got from an lfs recently brought flukes with them into my tank, I treated with sterazin but tbh progress was slow and I'm not even sure that sterazin was what made it go away in the end either.

I've got 10 betta tanks running at mo and stats are ok, Ibble said Sterazyn too, will have to try and get some tomorrow, just wondered if the med i've got would be ok so i could start it today . The swimming is very eratic,,flitting round madly then sitting on the bottom for a while thanks for replying.

Will either be flukes or a virus attacking the nervous system.... :/ Water quality can also play a role. Can you post numbers for your stats. What my be OK to you, may not be for us... Also, what type of kit are you using? Some are more accurate than others

Flukes are the more likely bet IMO if water quality is good, and there isn't much that can be done about viruses anyway as far as I'm aware...

As Tetralinz says, Starazin is a good med IME as well as her's for flukes :good:

HTH some
