Alot of my fish had died in the past week and I noticed it was gill flukes after reading a ton on different diseases so I bought medication. I used the Clout medication and then noticed no fish have died since then. Since then I have now added 2 south american puffers which I have been searching for since I got my tank, and a small fire eel (which will be moved to something bigger eventually).

Now I noticed 4 of my 8 guppies have swollen red gills. I have no quarantine tank. So I have 2 questions.

So how dangerous would it be to now add Clout to a tank with the puffers and eel which are all scaleless?

Or could my guppies have a chance at recovering and not spreading the disease witout meds since I put in the medication 2 days ago?

Clout is copper based if I remember rightly? If so, it would be a disaster waiting to happen. Puffers will not tolerate copper, and it would likely kill them. Unsure of how the eel will take it TBH. If you are in the UK, add Interpet number 7, anti slime and velvet. I am using it ATM for the same problem. After 12 hours there were visible signs of improvement, after 1 week, all sysmptoms have vanished. Remember to maintain treatment for a few weeks after symptoms have gone, to prevent re-infection. The interpet med is based on Formalahyde, so is safe to the puffers :good:
