Iv now got a 400L full discus community, theres about 12-15 giant vallis most of them are the long there comming over the top, can i trim them if yes how?

also should i trim them are keep them as cover?

Hi, mine also are way past the water line, i dont cut them, as they naturally curve back to float on the water.

for discus and shy fish, i recommend letting them bend accross the top of the water line, as it not only makes the tank look more natural but provides the dicus with shelter:- From seeing their reflection in the glass and also it blocks a bit of the light out and makes it more subdued.

However, if you do want to trim, pull each 'leaf' away from the base with your fingers, much like trimming an Echinodorus. (Sword plant)
it is best not to cut but prize the leaf away from the clump at the bottom (is it called a rosette?)

oh and spell check is your friend :good:
