I take care of some of the tanks at my school, and one of the teachers has his own personal tank that he takes care of in his office. He stopped me in the hall and told me to come in and have a look because some of his fish weren't looking so good. I stopped by later and 3 of his 4 Giant Danios looked very bad. The back half of their body was bloody and red, so he put some stress coat in the water. Other than that he's stumped... he looked in a book and the only thing he could find that came close was some sort of bacterial infection.
Additional tankmates are 4 small angels (maybe one inch), a plec (5 inches maybe?) and a cory. (about 2 inches?) The danios are about 3 or 4 inches long... full grown. I'm not sure how often they get fed. The tank has been up and running for a few years.... up until about a week ago there were 3 large tiger barbs in there, but those were taken out and put in a different established tank with other tiger barbs. Then the angels and cory were added. Since the tiger barbs have been moved, 2 of them have also died (but didnt show this bleeding-type symptom). I tanks somewhere around 15-20 gallons... don't worry, the angels will be moved when they get too large.
In a different tank than the tiger barbs AND a different tank from the danios, we had 5 more tiger barbs die two weeks after we got them. Maybe theres something in the water around here??? I dont test the water conditions of the tanks, as they are all established, cycled, and well run. They recieve 10%-20% water changes weekly. I take care of these tanks like I take care of mine at home, and it is a major success 5 years in the making. I'm just puzzled as to why 2 types of fish in 3 different tanks are getting sick. Any and all help is greatly apprecieated.
