Hello, I have a blue male betta in a 3.5 gallon aquarium with a low flow undergravel filter. I wanted to purchase a Ghost shrimp to try and help clean up at least a little bit of the wasted food. Do you guys think that will be ok? or will my betta harrass him till he dies? The temp in the aquarium also hovers around 74-75

Thanks

funny you should ask. i just added 4 with my c.t. and the betta litterally dosnt even see them. i also have lots of little spots for them to hide, and a bunch of live plants that they hang out in. imo i think it is ok to do.

Depends on the betta really.
Some won't care, some will find them tastey.

I would do as andyourblueblood said.... make sure there are enough plants (fake or real) and enough hidey spots for the shrimp just in case the betta spots them.. even then, if the betta spots them and gets a bit too interested, it will only be a matter of time before they become tastey treats.

What are you feeding your betta? It's strange that you would have excess food unless you're feeding him flake food?
Maybe you could try switching over to a floating pellet instead? That way you control how much your betta eats so you won't have the excess food polluting the water.

if you get them i would reccomend, lots of hiding places and plants. also some may be eaten over time but thatg is of course natures law

i put in ghost shrimp with my betta's... they bowl has lots of rocks and a plant for the shrimp to hide from the betta's....

unfortunately... my one fish ate them all... and the other one stressed out the shrimp that they committed suicide :p

if you know your fish's personalities, it'll help you determine whether or not you should add tank mates
