I havnt added any ghost shrimp for quite some time, and thought they had all been eaten, but after looking eel all over the place i have spotted a few still living and eating (could see their belly was full haha). Salinity is now 1.011. I am wandering how much salt can they truly take? These are everyday freshwater ghost shrimp you find at any chain store BTW.

Most of the ghost shrimp sold in the UK are in fact a brackish species that can survive in a fairly wide range of salinity. I have some that are doing ok in pure FW, though most die off (if not eaten) within 48 hours. I put this down to a salinity shock as I know the lfs keeps them in a brackish tank as they come out of the Thames estuary.

I have read somewhere (but forget now) of some people being able to acclimate them up towards marine for short times (which I hope to do to be able to use them as a good food for marine preds).

Of course all the above could be entirely superfluous if the species he is massively different to the ones you get over there... ;)

I have sucessfully kept them in brackish too until my moray eventually realised they were edible
