Ghost Shrimp As First Fish/invertebrate

Well, i have finally gotten a tank (ten gallon) and am doing my fish-less cycle. The local petsmart people said that i should only add 1 to 3 fish in the beginning and then wait a week to add more fish. I was just wondering if i could instead add some ghost shrimp, because i have read that they are good at keeping a tank clean. Then in a week when i am ready to add more fish the tank will be clean. Plaese reply i am not sure what to do.

If you do a fishless cycle, you can add all fish at once.

I'm with K.J. If you cycle the tank then you can add them all at one time.. If not Just add them Little by little and be sure to watch ur stats and do water changes...
