Hi guys,

So I bought a liquid test from Tetra at one of my local stores to check my GH (and KH). While my KH is fine, currently at 8 dgh/135 ppm, my GH makes no sense. I even ran the test twice thinking I must have done something wrong. Both time I just stopped after 60 drops, which would be 60 dgh/1,000 ppm. I went to the store but they said the test works. Is it really possible that the GH in my tank can be well over 1,000 GH? I have been using mineral drinking water and while I do have 2 stones in the tank they are both innert

GH is a measurement of the minerals in the water (mainly calcium and magnesium) and you have put mineral water in the tank which is very hard. Do you have any fish in the tank?

Does the mineral water come with a list of ingredients? If it does, can you tell us how much calcium and magnesium it lists.

The bottled water is the likely issue. Never use bottled water because most has minerals in it. Distilled water or RO water would be zero GH, but that is not going to be sold as drinking water.

Is there a reason you do not use your tap water?

Yes I know that, I just didn't think it would be possible to have over 1,000 ppm in drinking water. Yes I do have fish in the tank, quite a few actually, but they have been in the tank for weeks now without showing any kind of problems.

Unfortunately it does not. It's Aqua by Danone if that helps?

At the moment I am still waiting for my new bottle of Aquasafe, which was heavily delayed during shipping. So I have no way to clear the chlorine from the tap. Besides that Indonesia has especially bad tap water so I really don't want to use it without any neutralizing agent.
