Hey guys im thinking of getting some females with my male crown tail

can i get one, or do i have to get more?

also can anyone give me links in a pm as to where i can buy them from as my lfs never has any nice females

cheers x

dpfishways.com has some lovely females at the moment.

thanks :)

and can i put just one female with my male?

No you can't keep a male and female together and if you want more than one female, it is recommended to get a minimum of 4 preferably more if you can.

Yep that's what we started with and we now have 7 females together in a tank and 4 males in separate tanks of their own. The females do pick on each other but the more you have the more spread out the bullying is :)

hmmmm lol i dnt think that many would get on with my cichlids

The reason i wanted a female was to give dave some company

Sorry.....he would probably attack her and kill her. One of our males has Corys in with him and he gets on really well with them :)

He's a lovely looking boy btw

awwww thats a shame as hes very friendly lol

ty, not the best pic of him as hes in mid swim and not displaying his fins

he gets on with the fish ive got, just thought he'd like some lady company lol

Never mind. Sounds like he's happy enough though :D This is the problem with these guys, you need multiple tanks to keep them all in.

yeah im starting to realise that, think im going to have to wait till i move b4 i get more bettas

im obsessed with bettas and plecos lol:D

I know what you mean. We started with one tank a couple of months ago and now have 4, two of which are divided. It's an obession which just grows and grows

Yeah, bettas are addictive, lol. I started with 1 a year ago, but now I've gotten four in the last month, LOL! But for a sorority tank (all female bettas) you'd need 4-6 to keep the aggression down, and you can't keep the male with the females, even when breeding. You have to condition the two (put in same tank so they can see one another, but separated) for a few days to a week or two sometimes. And once the mating is over, out she goes or the male will kill her. They don't mess around with cuddling after, lol.

 or whispering sweet nothings in her ear!!!
