Getting Rid Of Hair Algae

does anyone know how to effectivly get rid of hair algae i have lots of grey hairs on my plants and rocks ive been cutting it off and scraping it off and adding anti hair algae with water changes and it still comes back, i have a couple of algae shrimp and two ottos ,what else could i do

How much light do you have on your tank? If you have direct sunlight hitting the tank, you'll get algae. Try getting some fast growing stem plants to outcompete the algae.

I had some nasty hair algae in my tank. I went out and got some SAE's and they got rid of it all in a matter of days. If you have the room for these, i reccomend them.

Using algacides and algae-eaters alone to combat algae is destined to fail in the long term as you have discovered.

You need to identify and remedy the cause of the algae rather than just fixing the symptom.

Your algae is a result of an inbalance somewhere, the main cause of which is lack of plant growth. In a planted tank it is the plant growth that keeps algae at bay. Get enough plant growth and your algae will disappear for good.

my tank gets about one hour of direct sunlight in the morning at sunrise ,its the most shaded area in my house unless i put it in a cuboard. as you can see in these pics it is quite well planted ,you can see the hair algae on the grass in the middle. also i cant get a SAE because i have a ruby shark and i have heard they dont get on

Post your tank stats, tank size, amount of light over the tank, wattage, type of bulbs, what do you fertilise, how long do you leave the lights on for, do you use co2, testkit results ph kh gh nitrate phosphate etc what ever results you have post, atm the info you are giving is insufficient to make a judgement as to how to rectify whatever type of algae you have.

Also try and post a close up picture of the algae, it looks more like some type of bba but impossible to tell from the pics.
