Hi Folks,
In the next few weeks I am going to be moving to a new house. I am posting this topic as I was wondering what would be the best way to transport my fish between the houses? And if there are any materials I should pick up to help make the trip easier on the fish.
There are three methods that have come to mind but I don't know which one would be the best approach.
1. Placing small groups of fish together from the same tank water into ziploc bags or medium sized non-toxic containers?
2. Lowering the water levels of the fish tanks to about ~30% and then bubble wrapping the tank glass and placing saran wrap over top to prevent splashing and possible ejection of fish from the tank
3. Using a large sealable non-toxic container or bucket to put all the fish in and transport them together, and filling that up with both new declorinated water and existing tank water?
Note: My SUV has a 2 150W power outlets in the back cargo hold as well as a 2 12V receptables, should I consider using these to power one of my filters and a small voltage heater? The drive time will be about an hour with minimal traffic congestion.
For the tank media and substrate, I was going to place this into a separate large sealable container or bucket, with some existing tank water to try and preserve as much of the bacteria population as I can. The same would go for any filter media that is not in use.
Thanks again!
