My dad got me addicted to fish keeping. Today one of my friends saw my 55 gallon tank and is now wants to get fish. It's pretty cool. I was wondering if you guys have gotten addicted by friends and if yo have gotten anybody or how many people interested in fish keeping.
:D

Well my sister got into it cause her college only allows for fish and she likes biology so she got them. she dumped 2 female bettas on me and here i am today, 3 tanks, fry,a nd livebearers and the oringal bettas! i tried getting my friend but hes too lazy....

i got addicted ot fish keeping from my uncle know i convinced my friend to buy a 20 gallon for $10 LUCKY oh well.

My parents set up my mums old tank when i was like 10, and without knowing about fish behaviours ended up with conflict issues within the tank, so i ended up with my first fish which i kept in a tiny little tank in my room for several years before i upgraded.... and well ten years later ive got the original tank + 4 much bigger others

Got my first tank when I was 8, on a bit of my dads influence(he loves fish but doesnt have time to look after) and kept coldwaters until the last school year: Now im up to my second 1.5 years into Uni and beginning to get more into it(Just got a promotion today so more monya.......marines here I come soon).

my girlfriend now has a spongebob tank in her room (shes 19 lol) with a couple of guppies and a friend of mine has my old 2ft tank now i dont need it.

workin on the parents now so i can have another tank in the house. ill jus tell them its theres.

My ex boyfriend bought me a 10 gallon set-up because I have always loved animals but my parents wouldn't let me get anything like a dog, cat or rodent because we already had so many. So we decided on fish. And then I started getting into bettas and now I have a 120 gallon and 55 gallon in my room.

My 3y/o son wanted one for christmas, he kept asking for 6 months, a like long time in kids standards so we obliged, that got me hooked, now we have 6 community tanks + a fry tank, and that was only 18 months ago

my brother in laws sisters boyfriend got him into it then he got me into it

always had fish as a kid, was my dad's hobby, when I got my own house he set me up with a 3 foot community tank.... a yr or so later I got my 4 foot tank and was quite happy with just those two for yrs, then I got togetehr with Ian and within 3 months I've got another 2 tanks

My son had wanted fish for years and once I had redecorated his room last year we found a Juwel rekord 70 on ebay that we decided to bid on, the guy was also selling another tank - so we bid on that too (that was to be mine lol) Once we had those set up, two of my friends liked them so much that they too went out and bought themselves tanks. We now have 10 tanks in this house (incl. the hospital and quarentine tank) smallest being 18"x12" and largest being 5'x2'x18"......and believe it or not I laughed when I heard you all go on about Multiple tank syndrome in the beginning

I have always had goldfish (first one I won at the fair lasted 10 years!) However, only got into tropicals last september. My current bf and I had split up and I was really depressed. My good friend Mark suggested I got a new hobby to take my mind of my bf. I later won a Juwel rekord 60 on ebay really cheap and the guy who owned it threw in everything to get me started including some books! (thank you ebay man). I then set it all up and my bf (then ex) even made me a stand/cabinet with a silver seahorse handle.

I started with guppies and 3 neons which everyone told me would die because my tank had only been running 3 weeks. They are still with me!!! To cut a long story short....my fish helped me through some tough times last year and me and my bf have been happily back together since November. We are moving together to a new house soon and I have even managed to get my new tank a great spot in the front room!!! :fish:

I had 2 goldfish as a kid, they lived well over 10 years despite coming from a fair (though I now suspect mum or dad did a replacement :shifty: )

What got me into the tropicals was, I went Scuba diving in the red sea and decided that I wanted a tank, a few weeks later a friend told me of a tank that was going so I had it, that was about 2 years ago, I now have 5 tanks running and 2 still empty in the shed waiting to be fit into the house  Even though it was marine fish that got me into it, I've stayed with freshwater, I get to see the marines on their reefs when I dive :)

I needed something to do with my time once I came out of the army and remembered that my grandad used to love his tropical fish(he got rid of them when I was just a wee nipper, but I can sorta remember them)
So I took my last big fat pay packet and galloped on down to the local Pests@home and got a 30 UK Gal with a stand and all the trimmings.
Wow , I didnt have a clue
Safe to say we filled it with neon gravel and all the rest of the tat available.
12 months down the line, with a few hiccups, the tank is great now and looks like a fish tank( the tat went in the bin)and I am starting to really enjoy my hobby as before it was just getting on my nerves.
